The tourism sector has become for decades one of the key areas for the social and economic development of our country. Within it, the hotel sector, a cornerstone of tourism, is the one which has experienced stronger growth in recent years.
Immersed in an environment that is becoming unstable at high speed and in which uncertainty is high, the life cycle of products is becoming shorter and the client shows higher levels of demand. The sector continuously demands professionals trained to operate in a constantly evolving market, able to adopt modern management styles in more complex organizations with a growing trend towards concentration.
In order to train the best professionals in the hotel industry, CETT presents the official Master in Hotel Management and Restaurant Industry, one of the official programmes of higher education with greater recognition and tradition. (Seventh edition and the first with Official Master recognition) within the current highly specialized nationwide university offer. CETT has also the advantage of running its own tourism companies, including a 4-star hotel, the Alimara, the first hotel in Catalonia to be certified "Guarantee Badge of Hospitality Environmental Quality”.
The master has first-level managers of hospitality among its teachers team and an action-oriented methodology of learning: Group dynamics, role-playing, outdoor training and coaching based on a training ensuring immediate implementation in the company.

Module 1 . New tools for the hotelier product
Marketing of the Hotelier Product
Today, in highly competitive environments, the keys to business success are based not only on having a good product but on knowing who to offer it to, and on what is the most effective way to bring it to people. This subject will present the hotelier product identification characteristics which determine its sale, raising the market as a necessity and an opportunity to optimize results.
The main objective of this subject is to provide students with the key elements for taking marketing decisions by contextualizing the hotelier business in the complex field of tourism.

Systems for Quality Management, Environmental, Occupational Risk Prevention and Social Responsibility.
Companies nowadays invest considerable time and Money in the development of services, seeking new ways to reach sustainable competitive advantage. Customers are increasingly getting more expert and demanding and therefore quality service leads to increasing the customization capability and final satisfaction by generating loyalty in the company.
This subject is intended to convey to students the basic knowledge of the various management systems on where to base business decisions for improvement in the quality of service, in external and internal customer satisfaction, safety, and in responsible management towards the environment.

Module 2 . Competences in the Strategic Management
Management Skills
From a holistic view of people’s management as a key factor to the success of organizations, this subject aims to sensitize and empower the future leaders of the need to address and manage the human factor from the start of the relationship during their career in the company and at the end of it. Similarly, the basis for identifying the necessary management skills to lead the team in meeting objectives will be laid.

3. Promotion of management to be implemented in tourism organizations
Strategic Management
With the Strategic Management subject it is intended for students to acquire the knowledge to manage the organization under an approach to incorporate the latest trends in the field.
It will introduce the student to the key actions to undertake the performance of the required strategic analysis required, leading to a diagnosis of both the internal and external situation of the company. The different strategies will be considered, which depending on the circumstances, the company may take to achieve the desired objectives.

Financial-Economic Management
This module will provide the student with the skills to analyze the situation of the company from and economic-financial point of view, and so allowing the students to set operating budgets, getting to know the costs of the services provided, evaluating different possible investment decisions, etc..

Module 3. Design, Management and Control of Hotelier Operations
This module aims to consolidate the knowledge that the student has on the operations, conveying the importance of seeing the operation not as a set of tasks to perform, but as structured processes to manage and control.
The main objective is to convey the importance of operations in the hotel company enabling the student to the analysis, evaluation and improvement of operational activities.
Design, Organization and planning of the operational areas of a hotel business.

• Design, organization and planning of the accommodation area: bookings, reception, housekeeping.
• Design, organization and planning of the food and beverage area: restaurant and purchase.
Control of the operational areas (control indicators)

Master’s Final Project
From the second semester of the course, students can either begin to develop their collaboration period in specialized businesses, or their research project. At any time and to its completion (maximum allowable date for these activities to September 2009), the student has a personalized monitoring under the assignment of a tutor for research.

METHODOLOGY
The learning model used is designed to facilitate the participant the analysis, control and improvement of Hotel Management and / or Restaurant industry, causing situations in which participants must cope with different situations and common problems in different types and structures of this type of tourism businesses.
The continued involvement of the students in the classes, the constant incentive development through reflective exercises and case studies, provides participants with the skills necessary for career success in this field.
The Master is set in different thematic modules, developed by means of working sessions, both theoretical and practical, related to the corresponding topic. Some sessions of the module "Strategic Management Competences" shall be conducted in conjunction with students enrolled in the two specialities. Also, the participation during the Master of hotelier professionals / managers with proven experience from the top and leading companies and institutions in the country and abroad will provide participants with different and enlightening points of view, with innovative and unique practice.

MANAGEMENT PROGRAMME OF EXPERIENCE AND OUTDOOR TRAINING
This is a group dynamic in which all the most necessary managerial skills for the profile of Managers / Directors are worked out by being examined by specialists and psychologists to diagnose and develop the target responsibilities of the training programme. The participating students experience in practice, the knowledge acquired, also enhancing further positive changes in their behaviour and attitude, especially by promoting initiative and teamwork.
ASSSESSMENT
The assessment of the learning is carried out from ongoing monitoring of the student by the teaching staff and the Direction of the course, as well as by the elaboration of written evidence and preparation of papers, as required by the subject matter.
CAREER POSSIBILITIES
The career possibilities eligible to the participants in this master focus on positions and functions to be developed in the following departments of businesses, institutions and tourist destinations:
• Director / Manager of companies or hotel groups: The figure of the hotel manager is comparable to the position of CEO or of an SME. In addition to managing the budget and coordinating the team, this executive is responsible for compliance with internal procedures, standards of quality and for the efficiency of operations.
• Responsible for corporate departments of hotel chains: This figure’s main function focuses on the help and support offered to different business units of the hotel group.
• Head of Hotel Division of Business Groups: Responsible for coordinating and monitoring the various hotel businesses belonging to an investment or corporative group.
