Announcement of 2016-2017 Scholarships

PREAMBLE


The Fundació Gaspar Espuña - CETT has a long tradition of commitment to education, teaching and research in the field of tourism. The main principles that define and guide its actions are:

•      Promote greater tourism knowledge

•      Drive Tourism Science by promoting research

•      Encourage the sustainable growth of tourism and hospitality

•      Strengthen the international presence of CETT

•      Maintain and increase relations with the tourism sector and CETT Alumni members 

•      Help students to broaden their knowledge

•      Be socially responsible

With these principles, the foundation has been able to harness the will and intentions of various entities in order to provide scholarships for the different types of training that the CETT Group offers each year. The foundation does so with the clear aim of facilitating quality studies in the tourism field, promoting effort, an international perspective, and both academic and professional performance. 


Chapter 1 


GENERAL PROVISIONS 

Article 1 Types of Scholarships

 

 

SCHOLARSHIPS
ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP Following the foundations of the FGE CETT philosophy, this scholarship is aimed mainly at guaranteeing that CETT vocational and undergraduate students who show interest and ability both academically and professionally are able to continue their studies in the field of tourism, hospitality and gastronomy despite economic hardship. Exceptionally, applications from new students may be considered.
COLLABORATION SCHOLARSHIP Aimed at facilitating tourism training to CETT students in any of the official degree programs (vocational, undergraduate, and master's degrees) by allowing them to collaborate in the different CETT Group departments or business units.
MOU-TE! ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP Aimed at promoting students' mobility and international perspective by enabling them to study part of their degree abroad at one of the universities with which the EUHT CETT UB has bilateral or ERASMUS agreements.
MOU-TE! INTERNATIONAL INTERNSHIPS Aimed at promoting the mobility and international perspective of last-year students or recent graduates by enabling them to perform international internships that round out their academic career and increase their employability.


 

PRIZES AND COMPETITIONS
Entrepreneurial Projects Competition Designed to promote entrepreneurial spirit, innovation as a competitive strategy in tourism companies, and the creation of companies and services in the tourism sector.
“Ramón Arcarons” Prize to the Best Tourism Degree Graduation Project Aimed at promoting and strengthening the development of research and knowledge in the fields of tourism, hospitality, and gastronomy, this prize incentivizes EUHT CETT-UB undergraduate students to develop their Graduation Projects and encourages excellence.
Prize to the Best Advanced Vocational Training Graduation Project Aimed at promoting and strengthening the development of research and knowledge in the fields of tourism, hospitality, and gastronomy, this prize incentivizes students in the EHT Advanced Vocational Training programs to develop their Graduation Projects and encourages excellence.
Prize to the Best High School Tourism Research Project Recognition for research projects by high school students in Catalonia that examine the fields of tourism, hospitality, and other related fields (gastronomy, leisure, geography, history, etc.).

Article 2 Number and Total Amount of Scholarships

The number and total amount of scholarships is dependent on the entity's annual budget and the approval of the competent Governing Body. 

In all cases, the scholarship will be applied to the total amount for the course, except for the enrollment fee, taxes and dining hall fees (for Hospitality Vocational Training).

 

Chapter 2 


Article 1 

Academic scholarship 2016-17


 1.1. Purpose: 

To guarantee that CETT students who show interest and ability both academically and professionally are able to continue their studies in the field of tourism, hospitality and gastronomy despite economic hardship. Exceptionally, applications from new students may be considered.

Applicants for this scholarship must accredit their family's income and assets.


1.2.  Recipients: 

Students in Vocational Training programs at the EHT and undergraduate degrees at the EUHT CETT-UB. 


1.3. Requirements: 

  • Be enrolled in one of the Vocational Training courses (full year) at the EHT, or, for undergraduate students, be enrolled in at least 60 ECTs at the EUHT CETT-UB.
  • Have passed all of the courses from the prior academic year. In exceptional circumstances, non-compliance with this requirement may be justified by reasons of force majeure.
  • Have applied for a general scholarship (Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports)
  • For the purposes of the scholarship, have a maximum income per member of the applicant's family below that set each year by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports.
  • Once the ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP application has been submitted to the Fundación Gaspar Espuña-CETT with all of the accompanying documents, have an interview with a person from the Scholarships Committee.


1.4. Economic assistance:

The amounts of the ACADEMIC scholarships are:

a) €1,145

b) €2,285

The scholarship amount will be subtracted from the pending monthly payments until the end of the academic year.


1.5. Assessment criteria for awarding scholarships:

The following aspects will be taken into consideration when awarding the scholarships:  Family/financial situation, year in which the student is enrolled, academic transcript, assessment of practical training and experience, interest and degree of motivation in studies and the profession, and whether they obtained the general academic scholarship from the MECS the prior year.


1.6. Documents to be presented:

  • ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP Application Form, duly filled out.
  • Complete photocopy of the most recent tax returns of all family members who had to file a return. 
  • Business owners or self-employed individuals must present documentation on the result of their activities (corporate income tax or income tax on economic activities).
  • Copy of the application receipt for the academic scholarship from the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport.
  • Accreditation of income not included in tax returns (work, pensions, unemployment benefits, severance payments, etc.) for family members from the last financial year.
  • Documentation accrediting any special family circumstances (alimony payments in separations, widow's pension, orphanage, renting a house, disability certificate, etc.).
  • The CETT Registrar's Office will include a summary of the student's grades from the prior year with the documentation presented.


1.7. Filing applications:

Students must fill in the application and attach all required documentation. To file an application, students must have an interview:

Students in the first year of Vocational Training or undergraduate degrees (university pre-registration performed in June and July): Period for requesting interviews via the CETT Virtual Campus (click here): from September 7-27.

Students in the first year of undergraduate degrees (university pre-registration performed in Septemer):  Period for requesting interviews via the CETT Virtual Campus (click here): from September 28 to October 21.

Students in 2nd year or above: Period for requesting interviews via the CETT Virtual Campus (click here): from September 7-27.

 

All scholarship applications that do not include the required documentation will be rejected.


1.8. Decision:

The Scholarship Committee will notify applicants in writing of their decision no later than 60 days after the deadline for submitting applications. 

If the student does not agree with the decision regarding their scholarship application, he or she can request a review of the decision by the Scholarship Committee on the CETT Virtual Campus (FUNDACIO GASPAR ESPUÑA - CETT) within 15 days of receiving notification. Any request for review received after this period will NOT be accepted.

Article 2 

Collaboration Scholarship 2016-17


2.1. Purpose: 

To facilitate access to tourism training to CETT students in any of the official degree programs (vocational, undergraduate, and master's degrees) by allowing them to collaborate in the different CETT Group departments or business units.


2.2. Recipients: 

Students in CETT Vocational Training, undergraduate degrees, or official master's degrees. 


2.3.     Requirements: 

•      Be enrolled in one of the official training programs at EHT or EUHT CETT-UB during the academic year for which the scholarship collaboration will take place and at the time the application is completed. 

•      Not hold any academic degree equivalent to vocational training or undergraduate degrees.


2.4. No. of Scholarships and Economic Assistance:

Starting September 15 and throughout the year, the different application periods for COLLABORATION SCHOLARSHIPS linked to the different CETT Group departments and business units will be announced.

At the time each of the scholarships is announced, the following information will be specified: Department offering the place, candidate requirements, conditions (length and schedule of collaboration), and the scholarship amount.

Article 3 

Mou-te! Academic Scholarshp 2016-17


3.1. Purpose: 

Promote students' mobility and international perspective by enabling them to study part of their degree abroad at one of the universities with which the EUHT has bilateral or ERASMUS agreements.


3.2. Recipients: 

Students enrolled in the EUHT CETT-UB Tourism Degree who have obtained a place in one of the ACADEMIC EXCHANGE programs for the 2016-2017 academic year. 


3.3. Requirements: 

•      Be enrolled in the Tourism Degree during the 2015-2016 academic year.

•      Have a high level of the destination country's language.

•      Have passed all 2015-2016 academic year courses as of the date of application. In exceptional circumstances, non-compliance with this requirement may be justified by reasons of force majeure.

•      Never have received a MOU-TE! ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP from the Fundació Gaspar Espuña-CETT.


3.4. Economic Assistance:

Depending on the destination, the amount of the MOU-TE! ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP could be: 

€1,740 For Canada-Quebec, Mexico, Australia, Switzerland and other countries with bilateral agreements (China, South Korea, Brazil)
€1,190 For Finland, Netherlands, and Norway
€940 For Austria, France, Italy, Lithuania, Portugal and Romania

The scholarship amount will be paid via bank transfer in the following manner:

Students who are going abroad during 1st semester:

50% in July, before leaving

50% in December

 

Students who are going abroad during 2nd semester:

50% in December, before leaving

50% in March

 

3.5 Assessment Criteria for Awarding Scholarships:

The following aspects will be taken into consideration when awarding the scholarships: Family/financial situation, year in which the student is enrolled, academic transcript, assessment of practical training and experience, assessment of the language level required by the destination country, and the student's interest and degree of motivation in studies and the profession. 


3.6. Documents to be Presented:

  • MOU-TE! ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP Application Form, duly filled out.
  • Complete photocopy of the most recent tax returns of all family members who had to file a return.
  • Business owners or self-employed individuals must present documentation on the result of their activities (corporate income tax or income tax on economic activities).

  • Curriculum Vitae, following the CV form.
  • The CETT Registrar's Office will include a summary of the student's grades from the 2015-2016 academic year up to when the application for the MOU-TE! ACADEMIC Scholarship was filed with the documentation presented.
  • At the end of their study abroad program, an assessment report, using the mobility report form.

 

3.7. Filing Applications and Documentation:

Students must fill in the corresponding application and attach all required documentation. 

Application period: from May 17 to 20, 2016

Where to apply: CETT Reception, Ground Floor.

Once the documentation has been submitted, applicants must request an interview on the Virtual Campus (click here).

Period for requesting an interview: May 23 to 27, 2016.

All scholarship applications that are missing any required documentation will be rejected.


3.8. Decision:

The Scholarship Committee will notify applicants of their decision in writing by July 1, 2016. 

If the student does not agree with the decision regarding their scholarship application, he or she can request a review of the decision by the Scholarship Committee on the Virtual Campus (FUNDACIO GASPAR ESPUÑA - CETT) within 15 days of receiving notification. Any request for review received after this period will NOT be accepted.
