CETT is an international School for education and knowledge transfer in tourism and hotel management and gastronomy. CETT is affiliated to the University of Barcelona. Since its creation, has been dedicated to tourism training, research, and support, as well as encouraging the growth of tourism, hospitality and gastronomy in our country. CETT announces the XXXV edition of Alimara CETT Barcelona Awards.
The Alimara CETT Barcelona Awards were created 35 years ago, in 1985, with the objective of providing yearly recognition for the effort and quality of material in tourism promotion, whether it be that of public institutions or private companies. In the beginning, participation was limited exclusively to the Catalan sector, and, a year later, came to include the entire nation. Currently, the awards are open to international participation.
The origin of the word Alimara dates back to the Arab era and makes reference to a bonfire which was lit in the past at the summit of a mountain in order to orient and guide travellers; in the same way, nowadays the promotional tourism materials orient and guide tourists.
Since 2000, The Alimara Awards have grown thanks to an agreement between CETT and the International Tourism Fair of Catalonia (SITC), nowadays B-Travel, to unite efforts by sharing in the organization of The Alimara Awards.
In 2008 the Alimara Cat Award was incorporated into the program. This is an award to encourage the promotion of tourism in Catalan which is organized in conjunction with the Generalitat de Catalunya.
In the 2012 edition, the Alimara CETT Mass Media Award was added to the program. This award recognizes the contributions made to the promotion of tourism by the media.
This year 2019 marks the 35th anniversary of the awards. The awards have become a reference in the tourism scene, both nationally and internationally. An awards that mature with the years and that provide a transversal vision, that evolve to the rhythm of society does.
Alimara CETT Barcelona Awards has grown, grows and will continue growing to reinforce itself as the main point of reference in the field of the awards within the tourist sector. The awards are aimed at awarding campaigns, actions and strategies that, within the overall promotion of organizations, have the main focus on innovation in communication, marketing, sustainability and responsibility, and the products and services in the tourist, hotel and gastronomic sphere.
