The roles

.

The Senior Capstone Project course involves autonomous learning by the student due to the carrying out of the project and continuous guidance of a professor who has the tutor's role. Each agent plays a different role in the development of the SCP:

Tutor's functions

The functions of the tutor are:

  • To read the information related to the SCP in the Teacher's Guide
  • To know the CETT Style Manual and ensure its application in the SCP
  • To establish a work plan in agreement with the student
  • To conduct regular tutorial sessions with the student to monitor the SCP
  • To guide student in the different phases of development of the SCP
  • To promote student initiative, autonomy and reflection
  • To provide feedback to the student from the partial deliveries of the SCP
  • To assess the memory and final prseentation of the SCP

On the contrary, they are not functions of the tutor:

  • To participate in the drafting of the SCP report
  • To directly correct spelling or grammar errors
  • To over-review the different versions of the SCP

Student's functions

The functions of the student are:

  • To read SCP information in the Student Guide
  • To know the CETT Style Manual and apply it in the development of the SCP
  • To contact the tutor to report on progress, ask questions that may arise and send partial deliveries of the SCP
  • To request regular tutorials with the tutor to monitor the progress of the SCP
  • To have initiative and autonomy in carrying out the SCP, without losing the contact with the tutor
  • To send a final version of the SCP to the tutor well in advance so that he or she has time to review it
  • To submit the report and presentation of the SCP within the established deadlines and format

Finally, it should be remembered that although the tutor has a key role in guiding the SCP, the student has the ultimate responsibility for the final result and the quality of the project delivered.
