Congreso internacional en turismo literario y cinematográfico

Literary and film tourism can be one of the driving forces behind regional development, enhancing local cultures and identities. The number of people travelling to visit filming locations or the places where their favourite writers lived has increased significantly, along with the growth of film commissions. Therefore, reflecting on the practices and challenges these tourism niches face is paramount in the scope of the relationship between tourism, culture and regional development.

In this context, the III International Conference on Literary and Cinematographic Tourism aims to be a venue for discussion and reflection on the potential of literary and cinematographic tourism for regional development - cultural valorisation, income generation and the strengthening of local identity. The event is an informal discussion platform for academics, researchers, professors, audiovisual professionals, managers and the general public to exchange knowledge about the interfaces between literary and film tourism and regional development.

The third edition of the Literary and Cinematographic Tourism Conference is organised by the Postgraduate Programmes (Master's and Doctorate) in Tourism and Hospitality and Literatures and Culture (University of Caxias do Sul, Brazil), the UB Chair of Tourism, Hospitality and Gastronomy CETT (University of Barcelona), the School of Management, Hospitality and Tourism (University of Algarve) and the University of Groningen (Netherlands). The event's first edition took place in 2024, and since then, it has been characterised by its encouragement of multidisciplinary debate and the certainty that it has contributed to developing these research areas.
