Senior Capstone Project Defense

Senior Capstone Project Defense

The regulations established by the Ministry of Education state that all Senior Capstone Project must include a defense. There are two options proposed by EUHT CETT-UB in order to present the project:

A. Remote Attendance

B. In-person Defense

The defense of the Capstone Project is part of the evaluation of the subject. The advisor is responsible for choosing the most suitable defense option for the project. It should be taken into consideration that the "In-person Defense" has a higher weight on the evaluation of the SCP than the Remote Defense.

Three weeks before the submission of the projects, the Advisor must notify the Senior Capstone Project Coordination the type of defense chosen for the project.

The defense of the SCP will be assessed by an Examining Board of 2 or 3 experts that will assess the performance of the students based on the defense.

This are the parameters followed to assess the project depending on the type of defense:

A. Remote

The Remote Defense of the SCP implies the submission of the paper and the full report of the project on the Virtual Campus (both documents in PDF format) as well as the submission of a powerpoint presentation including audio. During a certain period of time (one week), the Examining Board and the University's community will be able to post questions, doubts and clarifications about the project.

The authors of the project must answer all the questions asked by the Examining Board and may answer, optionally, the questions asked by the rest of the community. During this period of time, the Examining Board will collect their impressions on an evaluation template in order to assess the project.

B. In-person

In-person Defense of the project implies a 10 minute public presentation of the project. There will be an extra 10 minutes space for questions and clarifications.

In order to make sure that the learning objectives have been achieved, the presentation of the project must include the following explanations:

  • Definition and delimitation of the scope of the project (OBJECTIVES)
  • State of the art review: bibliography, studies, projects (LITERATURE REVIEW))
  • Identification of the methodology followed (METHODOLOGY)
  • Analysis of the outcome (RESULTS)
The presentations will be scheduled during the last 2 days of the semester.
