International Conference on Literary and Cinematographic Tourism

26-28 March 2026

The 3rd International Congress on Literary

Literary and film tourism can be a driving force for regional development, revitalizing local cultures and identities. Travel by people motivated to visit filming locations or the places where their favorite writers lived has increased significantly, as has the growth of film commissions themselves. It is therefore essential to reflect on the practices and challenges facing this sector, given the importance of studying the relationships between tourism, culture, and regional development.

In this context, the III International Congress on Literary and Film Tourism is presented as a forum for discussion and reflection on the potential of literary and film tourism for regional development—cultural revitalization, income generation, and strengthening of local identity. The event offers a space for debate and the exchange of knowledge among academics, researchers, teachers, audiovisual professionals, managers, and the general public on the interfaces between literary and film tourism and regional development.

The third edition of the International Congress on Literary and Cinematographic Tourism is promoted by the Postgraduate Programs (Master's and Doctoral) in Tourism and Hospitality and in Literature and Culture (University of Caxias do Sul, Brazil), the UB Chair of Tourism, Hospitality and Gastronomy CETT (University of Barcelona), the Higher School of Management, Hospitality and Tourism (University of the Algarve), and the University of Groningen (Netherlands). The first edition of the event took place in 2014 and, since then, it has been characterized by its encouragement of multidisciplinary debate and its commitment to contributing to the development of this field of study.
