The Specialization in Tourism Management of Urban Destinations, blended version, of the Official Master in Innovation in Tourism Management addresses innovation applied to the processes of territorial and tourism management and planning in destinations at a local and regional scale.

At CETT-UB, we want to respond to destinations' current challenges in innovating in tourism management and applying competitive tourism products in a dynamic environment. Apart from major established cities, many other territories seek to redefine their economic models through tourism. However, this phenomenon's rapid growth makes it necessary to implement policies and strategies for more sustainable and adequate development with its residents' and citizens' interests.

Disruptive profiles capable of rethinking the tourism model and developing new tourism products, experiences, and services adapted to all demand types are needed. And professionals that turn urban destinations into unique and cohesive environments.

Blended version

The blended version will allow you to combine your work and your personal life with a first class academic study, whether you live in the same city of Barcelona or elsewhere. It is ideal for people from abroad who, due to their circumstances, cannot move to CETT for the entire course.

The blended mode is a modular program that combines online classes with three weeks of face-to-face practical leçons at CETT at the end of the course. During this period you will visit companies in the sector and attend classes by professional experts, all in a unique tourism learning laboratory such as the city of Barcelona.

You will be able to learn in situ about** business models of leading international tourism companies**, as well as management models of the tourism administration. All this with special emphasis on governance, sustainability, innovation and digitization of the sector.

Practical classes and classroom experience to get the most out of your learning process through visits to companies in the sector in the city of Barcelona, so you can live the CETT experience.

You will complete 70% of the online training and 30% of the on-site training so that you can manage your study time.

You will learn actively with different innovative methodologies that promote your learning in management skills and your professional growth.

The Master's Degree has its own learning system in which you will be the center of the learning process. You will learn thanks to your active participation in the classroom through learning by doing and interaction among students, or own methodologies such as CBL and PBL.

A UNIQUE STUDY PROGRAM TAILORED TO YOUR NEEDS

  • Choose between face-to-face and blended. The blended model involves taking the program online and combining it with a face-to-face part at the end of the course.
  • Most of our students find a job upon completing the Master's program or are promoted within their company.
  • A unique official qualification: this is the only Official Master's Degree in Tourism Management Innovation awarded by the University of Barcelona and CETT. Academically recognized in Spain and abroad.
  • You will be able to do a triple specialization if you wish. After you finish your specialization, you can take a double or triple specialization of the Master's degree: Tourism Management of Cultural and Natural Heritage, Tourism Management of Culinary and Gastronomic Heritage, Tourism Management of Urban Destinations.   • Doctoral studies: being an official master's degree will guarantee you academic recognition in Spain and abroad, and you will be able to pursue a doctorate.

  • A research-oriented master's degree: this is the only Master's degree that offers a solid research base, based on the extensive experience of CETT's research groups and their scientific production. You will have to take two subjects oriented to research methodology.
  • A master's degree oriented to professional practice: this Master's degree allows you to carry out curricular and extracurricular internships. CETT-UB has more than 900 collaboration agreements for the development of these curricular and extracurricular internships. Some of the organizations where our students have done internships have been in public entities, different tourism consortiums, tourism associations, or private entities such as consultancies or tourism facilities.

COURSE OVERVIEW

The Master's Degree consists of the first block of core subjects in the three specialties, which allows you to lay the foundations of the concept of innovation applied to the tourism sector. In a second block, you will take the subjects specific to the specialization.

The Specialization in Tourism Management of Urban Destinations focuses on the most relevant aspects of innovation linked to destinations' tourism management, territorial intelligence components, and the role of sustainable criteria for their tourism success. Also, aspects of local administration and tourism governance or the application of tools for the planning of sustainable tourism models are addressed.

DURATION

The Official Master's Degree curriculum has a duration of one academic year equivalent to one year.
