Co-creation of visits to historical memory spaces by groups with exile experience
Visits to historical heritage are a tool to promote a space for education in values. Taking into account that the visit of these spaces by refugees can contribute to promoting the inclusion of these groups in the host society, the project aims to adapt mediation strategies to the needs of these people in order to maximize this impact.
Specifically, the project has contemplated the design and implementation of a co-creation process in which people exiled by the war in Ukraine have participated in order to adapt current visits to the Exile Memorial Museum (MUME) of La Jonquera and the beach of Argelès-sur-Mer according to their interests and needs. Likewise, the project allows analyzing the experience of these people after the visits and determining the impact of the new visit compared to the standard visit in terms of mutual understanding, emotional connection, inclusion and peacebuilding, as well as suggesting guidelines for adapting similar heritage visits for groups that have experienced situations of exile.
