The Specialization Course in Event and Congress Coordination is an official and intensive training that will prepare you to organize reception services, protocol and customer service focused on the MICE sector (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions).
It is aimed at professionals who have completed an intermediate or higher vocational training and want to improve their professional skills through a sustainable vision and the application of digital tools and marketing strategies to improve processes, as well as master specialized english to develop an international career in the MICE sector.
A program that combines theoretical and practical training with an internship period in leading companies in the sector.

Recognitions

CETT obtains the identification of Integrated Vocational Training Center (FPCAT Center), granted by the Public Agency for Vocational Training and Qualification of Catalonia.

CETT has been recognized in the 13th edition of the Plan of Innovation Measures in FP, for its outstanding project “Building Experiences: Projects with application challenges in real companies CETT in Catering and Cooking”.

Ton Zambrano, a second year student of the Higher Technical Degree in Restaurant Service Management at CETT, has won first prize as best room manager in the 4th edition of the Josep Lladonosa Gastronomic Awards.

Núria Benages, Núria Esvertit and Rut Faura, students of the 2nd year of the Technician in Culinary Arts, Gastronomy, and Restaurant Services, participated from 22 to 24 April in the 23rd edition of the international gastronomic competition Bartolomeo Scappi.

The course has a total duration of 600 hours, with a study plan that covers theoretical and practical aspects in the different areas of MICE events.

- Identify service needs and assign tasks at each event, applying sustainable criteria to reduce environmental impact, such as the selection of local suppliers and eco-friendly materials.
- Collaborate in the planning, logistics and operations of events, incorporating digital technologies for registration management, real-time tracking and post-event data analysis.

Qualification you will obtain at the end of the course
Qualification of Specialist in Personnel Coordination in Professional Meetings, Congresses, Fairs, Exhibitions and Events.
This qualification is official and valid throughout the national territory, according to Royal Decree 711/2024, which regulates this course within the framework of professional training.

Practical training is the core of this cycle. It is articulated both in the classroom and in company internships, with options to participate in other activities or in international programs.
Thanks to the Career Services team, you can choose from among the more than 1,000 companies with which CETT has collaboration agreements.

In the general modality you will do 140 hours of internships in companies with a collaboration agreement, supervised by CETT-UB and the work center itself.

The objective is to complement and consolidate knowledge, skills and technical competencies in real companies in the sector and in different types of companies.
Career opportunities
- Congress and fair organization technician: in charge of the operational management of professional and institutional events.
- Responsible for protocol and institutional relations: application of protocol regulations and guest services at corporate and official events.
- Supervisor of event service staff: management of support staff, such as guests, assistants and technicians.
- Coordinator of promotions and marketing in events: development and execution of advertising campaigns and commercial actions in fairs and congresses.
The course will allow you to develop in 5 profesional areas:
- Tourism and accomodation: hotels, convention centers, resorts and business tourism companies.
- Event and congress organization: professional congress organizing companies (PCOs), agencies specialized in corporate event management, and trade fair and congress staffing services companies.
- Trade fair institutions and business corporations: trade fair institutions, exhibition centers, event departments of large corporations and professional associations.
- Travel agencies and event management: travel agencies specialized in MICE and DMC (Destination Management Companies), incentive and corporate travel management companies.
- Protocol and VIP services: protocol and institutional relations companies, coordination of official ceremonies and institutional events, VIP services at sporting and cultural events.
