An experiential learning journey

The Degree is structured in four academic years. Each Year you will complete 60 ECTS. In the 3rd and 4th years, you will study the subjects corresponding to the specializations, also called majors. Throughout this period, the learning process has been designed as an experiential journey that will improve your professional profile by acquiring different vital competencies.

Your specialization will allow you to study more specific topics to gain experience and knowledge. The specialization you take will also appear on your official degree, as you have acquired the associated professional competencies. Duration

The study program of this degree is structured in four academic years, with 60 ECTS credits each. The first two academic years cover core areas for all students. The last two are dedicated to your chosen specialization.

What professional opportunities does the Degree have?

After completing your studies in the Degree in Digital Business and Innovation in Tourism at CETT-UB, you will be able to work in four areas of application in tourism destinations, organizations and companies:

What objectives will you achieve with the Bachelor's Degree in Digital Business and Innovation in Tourism?

The Degree's general objective is to train you to respond to the challenges and changes derived from technological and digital evolution, innovating and developing new products in the tourism, hospitality, and gastronomic fields.

In addition, you will be able to:

  • Have a command of digital technologies and tools and know-how to apply them to transform the processes of companies, projects, and tourist destinations and program your digital platforms.
  • Through theory and practice and their application in real projects, learn the primary project management methodologies (Waterfall, Lean, Agile, Kanban, Scrum, etc.).
  • Develop your creativity with a technological and business vision. You will adapt, anticipate and respond to the challenges and changes in tourism companies and the tourism market derived from technological and digital evolution by devising new products.

How is the methodology of the Bachelor's Degree in Digital Business and Innovation in tourism?

The Degree in Digital Business and Innovation in Tourism incorporates new content focused on digital tourism and oriented to entrepreneurial or intrapreneurial projects.

Entrepeneurship, intra-entrepreneurship and project development

It is a 100% practical, applied, and realistic learning system. From the first year, you will start the process of creating your own company. You will identify customer needs, detect business opportunities to design and develop authentic products and services with a digital base. At the same time, the teaching team will become your best mentor. The classrooms will be collaborative work environments with the rest of your classmates.

CBL

Challenge-Based Learning (CBL) will allow you to deal with simulated or real problems posed by teachers or organizations, and companies from CETT's partner network. You will deal with situations from different areas: strategy, business, finance, technology, personnel, etc., in an experiential learning environment based on challenges in which you will interact with other students.

With this learning methodology, you will develop your specific business management skills. You will also learn transversal competencies such as critical thinking, problem-solving, resilience, or collaborative work.

Assesment

You can choose between two types of assessment:

  • Continuous assessment: consists of the assessment of the teaching-learning process through constant monitoring of the work done by the student and the learning he/she incorporates throughout the year.
  • Single assessment: aimed at all those students who, for justified reasons, cannot regularly attend face-to-face classes. We assess the students' learning process, taking into account the assignments designed for this purpose, which can be carried out during the semester or at the end of it, as specified in each case.

Final Project

The Final Project is equivalent to 6 ECTS and consists of developing a digital innovation project in the tourism sector. It is carried out from the first year of the degree, as you acquire knowledge and tools, until culminating in the last year.

  • In the first year, with the subject Innovation Processes for the Creation of Tourism Products, you will carry out the conception of a business idea or digital innovation project in the tourism sector.
  • In the second year, with the subject Development and Programming of Digital Platforms and Entrepreneurship and Business Plan, you will study the processes necessary for its development.
  • Subsequently, in the third and fourth years, thanks to Advanced Digital Project Management and electives, you will analyze the real possibilities of implementing the project.

There are two types of Final Project:

  1. Entrepreneurship project: you will develop a company project in a team. You will have to define the strategies and actions necessary to launch it to the market. The work structure is a business plan (executive summary, market and competition analysis, and strategic, marketing, operations, and financial plan).

  2. Intrapreneurship and innovation project: you will carry out an innovation project for a company, an institution, or an organization associated with CETT-UB. You will be presented with a challenge related to developing new services or products, creating new business lines, digitalization processes, digital marketing, or the development of digital platforms.

Develop your studies internationally

The CETT-UB campus offers its students an International Relations Office, responsible both for managing the mobility of students, teaching staff and non-teaching staff, and for guidance, advice and care for students interested in an international experience.

CETT-UB has different international mobility itineraries you can choose, representing professional added value and a life experience:

ERASMUS Program

Erasmus Program in the European Union, Sicue Program in Spain and, in the rest of the world, CETT-UB has specific agreements for bachelor’s degree students. CETT-UB offers its students the opportunity to study abroad in the universities which, like CETT-UB, promote knowledge, educational excellence and innovation.

Advanced Management Program

Students who have finished their studies will have the opportunity to undertake an international business internship with a duration between 6 and 12 months in:

  • Leading tourism and hotel companies, recognized for their high level of competitiveness and excellence.
  • Tourism solidarity projects, where they participate in international cooperation plans with NGOs for the development of responsible and sustainable tourism (10 projects).
  • Start-ups which are beginning their activity, participating in the entrepreneurial and creative process of their projects.

Practical training

The degree includes two periods of mandatory curricular internships in companies (9 ECTS).

You will be able to carry out these internships in CETT's own application companies or collaborating companies or institutions with a minimum of 225 hours each.

Thanks to these internships:

  • You will perform the functions of a job position in a top-level, local or international company.
  • You will acquire new skills and attitudes to develop in natural environments.
  • You will apply the knowledge learned during the Degree.
  • You will learn about the day-to-day operations of a tourism company, its business models, and the key points of management.

Besides, and from the first year, you will also be able to carry out voluntary internships (extracurricular internships) with a maximum duration of 900 hours per year.

Student orientation

The tutorial action plan (PAT) is a service for students whose main purpose is to offer personalized support to students in the fields of training, information and guidance beyond the content of academic subjects.

The student acompanying figure

The main objective is the advice of the student from the moment of entering the university world, monitoring their development, planning their studies until their professional orientation. This action is directed by teachers / tutors who contribute to a global education that is essential to develop and review their academic, professional and personal aspirations.

The performance of the teacher / tutor becomes convenient in order to take advantage of the training period of the students to provide personalized attention tailored to their unique circumstances, needs and characteristics that allow them to lay the foundations of their learning.

The model

The tutoring model is developed in a framework of integral education that promotes the global development of the student in all its dimensions: intellectual, emotional, personal and social.

    • Have access to CETT's own resources to reinforce, complete, and expand training. All information (both physical and digital) is available in the different spaces dedicated to this function.

    • The University of Barcelona has an extensive catalog of databases to consult documents, reports, and scientific articles.
  • As a center affiliated with the University of Barcelona, we enjoy the advantages of being part of the most prestigious university in Spain: UB Sports Services, We are UB Card.

  • Discounts at the University of Barcelona School of Modern Languages. Besides, thanks to the University of Barcelona University Card, you will enjoy promotions on products and services such as opticians, restaurants, technology, pharmacies, accommodation, travel, leisure activities, among others.

  • CETT has different restaurant services, such as the Fòrum or the Aula Restaurant CETT. The Fòrum is a space that favors creativity and cultural exchange among students. It has a varied, healthy, seasonal gastronomic offer that adapts to the day's different times. It is also possible to eat at the Aula Restaurant CETT, an à la carte restaurant with the same characteristics as an authentic gastronomic restaurant.

  • Be part of the CETT Alumni community to be in contact with CETT's extensive alumni network.

Learning spaces

At CETT we are committed to creating a learning context that consolidates our own training model, with high added value resources oriented to experience, experimentation, sharing and learning, in a unique Campus.

Our students have access to different multipurpose learning spaces: the Eidos Space, La Plaça, the Creativity and Innovation Space, the Computer Classrooms or the Reception Classroom, among others.

In addition, if you are an international student, you will also have access to the International Relations Office, which will help and advise you with the procedures you need.

CETT International Support

Because we understand the challenge of living in an environment that is not your own, the CETT-UB Campus offers you the International Relations Office (IRO), as an area designed to provide guidance, advice, and attention to international students during the Master's programs.

Our International Relations team will give you the necessary information related to logistical aspects of life in Barcelona, such as residency registration, the processing of your foreign resident's identity number (NIE), or how to find accommodation in the city.

Procedures related to your academic stay

The IRO team will provide you with updated information on the necessary procedures to carry out once you are in the city. They will provide you with guidance on essential documents such as your foreign resident's identity number (NIE), the official census at the City Council, or your university student card.

Languages

If your native language is not Spanish, the IRO team will advise how and where to learn it. They will also tell you where to learn Catalan, facilitating your integration into the city's daily life. Besides, you will strengthen your Spanish through the certified courses offered by our Language Department at CETT-UB. On the other hand, if you want to practice any different language informally, you can participate for free in our language exchange program with CETT students.

Accomodation

CETT-UB is the only higher education center with a residence hall - Agora BCN, with affordable prices for the CETT student community. We also have our four-star hotel, Hotel Alimara, where you and your family and friends can enjoy advantages and discounts.

Career Services integrates a team of professionals that guide and help students throughout their degree and facilitates them contacting some of the best companies in the sector to favour their professional development towards a future job offer.

Being close to old students

CETT-Alumni was born as the CETT-UB Alumni Association on March 1, 1994, as an initiative to offer a service to alumni, a space for personal and professional guidance, and a meeting point for experts in the tourism, gastronomy, and hospitality sector, with the CETT-UB as their common bond.

As an association of CETT-UB alumni, its primary mission is to promote the relationship between them, thus creating a network of professionals. Their shared link is to be CETT alumni.

The main objectives of CETT-Alumni are:

  • To promote the lifelong professional development of its associates at all levels and to favor access to the world of work, professional promotion, and lifelong learning. To foster creating a hub for exchanging knowledge and experiences among alumni, offering them the association as a meeting point in the professional world.
  • To facilitate knowledge and networking through conferences, lectures, colloquium dinners, and expert sessions. CETT Alumni wants to be a center of opinion and influence on the tourism environment.
  • To establish agreements with other organizations, favoring synergies that generate value for alumni.
